After qualifying in Edinburgh in 1983 I moved to London and worked in a very busy city practice for 8 years. I moved to Hawick with my family in ’92 and became a partner at North Bridge Dental soon after, becoming the sole owner in late 2015. It is a source of great pride that my staff have remained here and worked hard alongside me to provide fantastic care for our patients for so many years.

Working exclusively with award winning Vison Laboratory we can achieve an outstanding quality of veneers, crown and bridgework. Advances in modern composite materials allow me to recreate highly realistic tooth coloured restorations, enhancing the aesthetics of fillings and broken teeth. It’s enormously satisfying to be able to improve the function and appearance of patient’s teeth and to see the difference it makes to people’s lives. Altroviso our facial aesthetic brand gives me the opportunity to offer our patients a complimentary cosmetic treatment option for men and women.

A few year back I had the opportunity to volunteer with dental charity Bridge2aid in Tanzania with my wife Gillian. We found our patients in Africa to be friendly, and incredibly stoical about their suffering. We would love to return before long and want to encourage as many of our staff as possible to participate by volunteering too. We see our involvement with Bridge2aid as a long term project for many years to come.

The provision of general and preventive dentistry is paramount, as is the education of our patients, in understanding the importance of oral hygiene, diet and lifestyle and the consequences for the health of their mouths. It is as important to me that our team helps our patients, our local community and dental charity Bridge2aid as it is in offering the best restorative care possible.

I graduated in 1981 from Kings College London and continued living and working in London for a year afterwards, before moving to Mersea Island in Essex where I remained for a further five years. I then purchased dental practices in Dorset where I worked for a further twenty year. Once my children were grown up and living away from home a decision was made to experience life outside the UK and I was offered a job working in a private practice in New Zealand where I remained for a year. Family lives prompted a move back to the UK and for the past seven year I have been working firstly in Shetland and latterly in the Outer Hebridean Islands of Lewis and Harris, followed by sometime working for the British Military. A decision to put down roots in the Borders coupled with the offer of a job at North Bridge Dental and here I am thoroughly enjoying a new challenge and already feeling a part of a wonderful team. I am currently in my final year of a Masters in Endodontics at Kings College London and hope to offer the skills that I have been learning in the field of root fillings to the patients of the practice.

In 1995, I graduated University of G.T.Popa, Iasi, and became qualified to practice as a dentist. I continued to undertake numerous professional development courses in Romania and abroad, culminating with a specialist qualification in General Dentistry in 1998 and a diploma in implantology in 2005.

I successfully ran my own practice for more than 8 years using and progressing my knowledge in advanced reconstruction and cosmetic dentistry.

I left everything behind and decided to move to Scotland in 2011 wishing to offer a better education and more opportunities for my two daughters.

After living 4 years in the West of Scotland, I then moved to Edinburgh when my oldest daughter started studying at Edinburgh University. Meanwhile, I continued to develop and update my skills and attended a one year course leading to a Certificate in Restorative dentistry from the prestigious Tipton Dental Academy in Manchester. I am keen to progress that certificate to master level.

In Edinburgh, I worked in a very busy mixed practice and at the time was employed as an emergency dentist at Chalmers Dental Institute.

I am very passionate about my job as a dentist and I am implementing a holistic approach to dentistry as I believe seeing the teeth as a part of the whole body can influence and change the quality of my patients’ life. it is an amazing and rewarding experience to make that happen every day.
I profoundly believe in preventative dental care and keeping teeth for life as well as in modern dentistry where all the procedures should be aesthetic.
I am very proud to be part of the team here at North Bridge Dental where I am already feeling like a member of the family.

I am excited to be starting this new chapter of my career here at North Bridge Dental. I have worked in management for the last 15 years, within the retail sector and decided it was time to progress my career further becoming Business Manager at North Bridge Dental in October 2017.

I feel I bring a positive and enthusiastic approach to my role and I am very much looking forward to what the future holds. Customer focus and satisfaction has always been at the forefront of everything I do and this will be no different for the patients seen here within the Practice

I have been made to feel so welcome by such a friendly team, its no wonder they have such a fantastic reputation. I look forward to getting to know our patients better and becoming a friendly familiar face to our new and our very loyal patients.

I live in Jedburgh which isn’t too far from Hawick with my husband Steve who is a local firefighter and my daughter Sophie who is about the start Grammar School after the summer holidays. If I recognise any of our patients out and about in the surrounding areas I’ll be sure to say Hello.

Lynn NashDental Hygienist/Therapist

I started my career as a Dental Nurse in the RAF at the age of seventeen. As much as I enjoyed my time in the military, I wanted to further my skills. I went on to study Dental Hygiene and Therapy at the University of Birmingham, qualifying in 2009.

After following my husband Tom around the country for a few years we settled in the beautiful Scottish Borders to bring up our two children, Luke and Emma who are five and one.
I very much enjoy being a Hygienist, meeting new patients and making them feel at ease during appointments, ensuring every visit is a comfortable and pleasant experience.

Joining North Bridge Dental in January 2018 means I’ll be a new face to existing patients as well as new patients to the practice. I’m looking forward to meeting all my patients as well as taking over the role of providing the highest standard of care as previously provided by the Hygienists at North Bridge Dental. I qualified as a dental hygienist/therapist at Liverpool University in 2010 having previously worked as a dental nurse for 3 years. My aim is to maintain and improve the standard of oral hygiene treating and preventing gum disease.

I will do my best to make your appointment as comfortable and informative as possible. I love to teach my patients about the importance of looking after their teeth and gums at home and am optimistic that by instructing them in the correct use of toothbrushes and interdental aids they will have a happier healthier mouth. I also hope it means that they will find their visits to see me more interesting as I do like a good catch up with their news.

I’m currently enjoying some time out of work as I’ve just had my first child. Baby Luella is keeping me very busy so for the next 11months and I’ll see you all again around April 2018.

Lesley KingAdministrator/Front Desk Team

I have worked here since 1998, responsible for at times, our front desk and more recently offering Kim both general and technical support. I have always loved building a rapport with patients and although I may be less visible in reception I handle patient enquiries and triage calls for patients with concerns. I find a calm and reassuring manner works wonders and I get great satisfaction when I am able to reassure a nervous or anxious patient. My role as administrator keeps me busy and helps to make sure the practice runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Outwith work hours I enjoy walking my Westie Tilly and spending time with Family and Friends.

Sinead Riddell

I joined the practice as part of the front desk team in December 2013 and I am now responsible for the smooth running of our reception area. Previously I worked as a trainee dental nurse and this helps me to triage calls from patients with problems or in pain, to better understand the needs and concerns of patients in parallel with the demands of the surgeries. I am also qualified to work alongside the nursing staff in our sterilisation facility making sure all our surgeries are fully equipped with clean instruments.

I successfully completed and graduated with a Foundation Degree in Business Management at Teeside University and find this invaluable in organizing and maintaining an efficient yet friendly welcome to our practice. I work closely with the team to develop more improvements in our customer service and welcome all our patients with a lovely cup of tea or coffee. It is ok to drink it before your appointment you know!

Ashley Elliot
Ashley ElliotTreatment Co-Ordinator and Dental Nurse

I joined and trained within North Bridge Dental in 2008 and qualified as a dental nurse in 2010. I love to get really involved with all aspects of a patient’s care, understanding what I can do to make their treatment comfortable for them and for the smooth running of the surgery. Like all the nurses here I am qualified to process all our instruments in our sterilization room, making sure we have everything we need, when we need it. I set high standards for myself and feel confident in my ability to work alongside all our dentists and hygienist in an organized and efficient manner. I am keen to be more involved with our Altroviso facial aesthetics clinic to further my knowledge in complimentary therapies and treatments which reflect my interest in cosmetic procedures. I undertook training in 2016 to become our practice Treatment Co-Ordinator. Being able to welcome new patients to our practice is wonderful as well as spending time explaining the benefits of more complex dental treatment to all our patients new and old. I understand that a Dental Practice isn’t anyone’s favorite place but I will always try my best to reassure patients that they are in safe hands. I enjoy helping our patients understand how many of our treatments can have transformative effects and help them feel so much better in themselves. We are currently refurbishing my consultation room for our patients, helping to make them more comfortable and relaxed. I’m extremely excited to see the finished project. .

It has been great to return to work here after having a couple of career breaks to bring up my young children. I first joined the practice in 1996, qualified in 1998, finally returning to the fold part time in 2013. As a busy mother with the ability to multitask and a desire to get the job done to the best of my ability, I like to take a practical and organized approach to dental nursing and aim to make the patient journey as uncomplicated and comfortable as possible. I know many of our patients as I have lived and worked in Hawick for most of my life so I feel it is reassuring to see a familiar face when someone is nervous. I have an optimistic outlook on life and work, and it’s always interesting to have a new challenge to get stuck into.
