Whether you have a single missing tooth or no natural teeth at all, a dental implant based treatment can provide a long term solution to allow you to eat and smile with confidence.

What is an implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium cylinder that is gently and precisely placed into the bone in your jaw to act like the root of a tooth, supporting a crown, bridge or special custom made denture.

Implants can be used for single or multiple tooth replacement or a full arch replacement.

Dental implants have been available for many years and scientific studies have shown that the long term success of dental implants is extremely high. For many patients dental implants are the gold standard of tooth replacement treatment and offer the ideal solution to their dental needs.

Patients need to have healthy gums and adequate bone in the jaw to support the implant and its restoration i.e. crown /bridge etc. They must be prepared to maintain good mouth hygiene and visit the dentist regularly.

Implant patients should be in good general health as some diseases (such as diabetes) can interfere with the healing process and the successful outcome of the treatment. Please inform your dentist of any medical condition, any medication you take or your smoking habits.

Your dentist will discuss with you whether implants would be right for you and if so,we will refer you to our implantologist – Mr Duncan Robertson. He would make a thorough assessment and prepare an appropriate treatment plan in consultation with us. Once the implant has healed we would restore the tooth here in North Bridge Dental Clinic with either a crown, bridge or denture.

Both ourselves and Mr Robertson work closely with Vision Dental Laboratory to ensure the highest quality result, both functionally and aesthetically.
